Thiago Alcantara reveals why he left Bayern Munich for Liverpool

Thiago Alcantara has penned an emotional farewell letter to Bayern Munich’s fans, ahead of his £25 million move to Liverpool.

Both clubs finally agreed a fee on Thursday, with the Reds agreeing to pay at least £20m over the next four years, along with £5m in add-ons.

The 29-year-old was made available by Bayern for transfer, after he entered the final year of his contract.

However, in a post on Twitter, he made it clear he was leaving, “in search of new challenges”.

Thiago wrote: “Yes, I’ve made the most difficult decision of my sporting career.

‘I will close this chapter in this wonderful club, the club where I grew and developed myself as a player during the last seven years.

He added that,”My decision is purely sports related. As a football player, I want and I need new challenges in order to develop myself as I did here.

“Bayern will always be my home. Thank you, FC Bayern.”
