Manchester United are reportedly ambitiously hoping that they will have Jadon Sancho ready to play for the club in their first Premier League match against Crystal Palace.
The Red Devils remain locked in talks with Borussia Dortmund about a deal that would see them beat the club’s record £89 million fee paid to Juventus for the signing of Paul Pogba in 2016.
United are believed to have advanced yesterday on agent fees, something that has slowed the progress of the deal.
That said, United’s main problem has always been agreeing on a fee with Borussia Dortmund.
The German club has made it quite clear at all times that it will not negotiate a lower figure and that £108 million pounds will have to be paid in full this summer.
So far, United are yet to release an official offer for Sancho and have threatened to withdraw from the table.
Ed Woodward insists that Dortmund should take into account the COVID-19 crisis and review its skyrocketing Sancho valuation.
But as far a Dortmund are concerned, they feel that Sancho can stay for next season without there being any pressure to sell.
According to Norwegian journalist Fredrik A N Flitvedt, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains confident that a deal can be reached and United even plan to complete the deal in time to use Sancho against Palace on September 19.
Flitvedt tweeted: “Solskjaer should be frustrated that things take time, but United feel increasingly confident that they can reach an agreement with Dortmund on Sancho. United have ambitions that he is ready for the Palace match.”
