Man Utd player ratings vs Crystal Palace as Reds lose 3-1 (Premier League home, 2020/21)

Well, after waiting a month to see our boys in action, that was massively disappointing. It’s time for our Man Utd player ratings vs Crystal Palace… If you can stomach them.

David de Gea – Started shakily, then made a smart stop as half-time was approaching. Saved a penalty from Jordan Ayew, but the biggest joke of the night was when the referee ordered a retake.

Why? Because De Gea was about an inch off his line. Farcical. 5/10

Timothy Fosu-Mensah – He’s incredibly limited in attack. Did okay defensively, but he’s no Aaron Wan-Bissaka. 4/10

Victor Lindelof – Awful. Just awful. He’s so weak, poor positionally, average in the air and not composed at all. At fault for two goals. 1/10

Harry Maguire – Probably United’s best defender on the day, which isn’t saying much at all… 4/10

Luke Shaw – Caught out positionally for the Palace opener. Tried to get forward where possible but his execution wasn’t great. 3/10

Scott McTominay – United’s only decent player in the first 45. Didn’t really get into the second-half and was subbed after an hour. 5/10

Paul Pogba – Sloppy on the ball, weak in the one-on-one battle and didn’t really influence the game at all. 3/10

Bruno Fernandes – Very quiet. Sat far too deep at times. His passing was poor. 3/10

Daniel James – Ran about like a headless chicken until being hooked at half-time. 3/10

Marcus Rashford – Bang average. Didn’t get involved. When he did he gave it away far too often. 3/10

Anthony Martial – Poor hold-up play. Didn’t get much help but you expect better from him. 3/10

Subs:

Mason Greenwood – Never got into it.

Donny van de Beek – Nice to see him score on debut. It was a lovely finish, but it was in vain.

Odion Ighalo – Not enough time to mark.
