Manchester United midfielder, Donny van de Beek, has slammed his team-mates for their lack of urgency, following a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Red Devils began their new Premier League season with a home loss and Van de Beek says it was “not good enough”.
The Dutchman started from the bench, but came on to score the only goal for United, to make it 2-1.
Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha had given Palace a two-goal lead.
When it seems Van de Beek would become the catalyst for a fight back, Zaha added his second to kill off the game.
The 23-year-old felt the tempo of the match was too slow and the team performance was unacceptable.
“That was not good enough today. Last week in training, it looked really good. There was lots of quality and we played fast but today we played too slowly.
“First match for the club, a day you want to win. It doesn’t matter how, you want to win and I’m really disappointed that we lost 3-1 at home, that’s really bad.
“I think against an opponent like Crystal Palace you need to speed up the game to create something. That was not good enough,” Van de Beek told MUTV.
